Wyles-Wiles Extra Parish Records Data

Picture
Adrian Wyles Researching in St Mary’s Church – Duddington (September - 2014)
I have accessed the Parish Records of the areas surrounding Duddington. These are the records (not always complete) that have been digitalized and placed on CD, but which are not generally accessible to the general public. There always seems to be a data ‘black hole’ for Duddington due to its Parish Records being destroyed in a flood that covered the period 1550-1720. Much of this data does exist in other records, but to date it has been a slow process locating and analyzing it. As a consequence, and despite Duddington being included in nearly all these areas of Cambridge, Huntingdon, Bedford, Rutland and Northamptonshire at various times in its history, it does not appear once in the thousands of names I have studied, catalogued, extracted and organized, etc (not even after 1720 when Parish Records are available). It is as if Duddington is an independent area isolated from all other places. This is not a problem, as all our other research covering Duddington is published elsewhere on this site. What this data demonstrates is that the Wiles-Wyles family existed to various degrees all over Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire, and was by no means limited to Duddington. I have used Duddington as a geographical anchor-point and have described all these other places by their distance from - and compass orientation to - Duddington. We have also re-united Benjamin Wyles with his Kings Cliffe family, who married Elizabeth Castledine in 1799 in Woolthorpe. I hope other Wyles people (or their relatives) can make use of this data for their own research.
